Acquiring the knowledge in order to deploy, manage and develop the next generation Radio Access Network for 5G services. New drivers for 5G access network are analyzed: the user centric cell model, the triangle of device categories, network slicing and datacenter edge computing concepts. Transition from Cloud RAN to Next-Gen Cloud RAN is discussed, considering the new trials about NGRAN and new enabler technologies such as Massive MIMO, Windowed OFDM, 5G Subcarrier spacing scalability, BDMA and new pioneer bands.
